Frequency Ireland blog. ‘This is a fine album, a hopeful album….a cut above the average….if you like your tuneful post-hardcore and bands like Whipping Boy and Hot Snakes and Trail Of The Dead, if you like clever anthemic rock with a little twist and turn and a little bit of details that makes them stand out from the crowd, if you like delivered with a caustic edge, then this is for you... rather good, like it lots’ Organ Magazine. Due to the effects of prolonged alcohol abuse the following symptoms may begin to emerge; mood swings, anxiety, depression, loss of weight, creation of bad punk rock bands. El bastardo were thusly formed in 2002 by three local lushes who, having bored each other senseless with tales of possible musical synergy due to each member owning a Fudge Tunnel record, decided to put theory to the test. Five years later and a glittering band output comprising of approximately near zero releases and a few gigs in the local pub, El Bastardo continue to over achieve given that many in the band are functional alcoholics and borderline schizophrenics. 'Micheal' MP3 'Fuck the fuckin lot of em' MP3 both from the cd. Hey Colossus - 'Project Death' cd (RB08)
Releasing the classic 'Hey Colossus Hates You' lp a few years back, Hey Colossus burst on to the scene with their heavy as hell rollercoaster of a sound - they've since released a string of records including split lp's with japans DOT(.), Lords, Part Chimp and others. Creeping grooves that build into thick waves of grinding downtuned riffage, with weird shouted vocals, thick with Hawkwind FX and sent drifting over HC's spiky psychedelic krautrock stoner sludge grooves. Project Death see's Hey Colossus at their prime. This cd is a collaboration with Jonson Family Records, Shifty Records and Under Hill Records Violent Breakfast - 'Nient'altro che tempo' lp (RB07)

Magnetize live recording of an 'Audio Based Brainwave Entrainment' session which involved extensive usage of the concept of 'Binaural Beats' - auditory responses which result from the interaction of two different impulses, originating in opposite ears meshing in and out of phase. synchronized brain waves have long been associated with meditative and hypnogogic states, and audio with embedded binaural beats has the ability to induce and improve such states of consciousness. Recorded live at Lazybird, Dublin on the night of the 20th Feb 2005. Magnetize - "Biome" CD (RB002).
Review from Aural Innovations: "The spirit of Neu, Kluster and early Kraftwerk looms thick around the assemblage of sound presented on Biome and at times threatens to envelop it completely. Fortunately, Magnetize's refusal to utilize the potential of the studio itself as an instrument keeps Biome fresh and uncluttered. Pieces like "Free Running" and "Re-Sensifier" crackle with the high energy of cosmic radiation filtered through a particle accelerator hotwired to an amplifier. And while the sequential rhythms occasionally tether Magnetize's astral drone to Earth base, it's abundantly clear that the rendezvous with the mother planet is only a temporary visit to refuel the stardrive for yet another excursion through the dark light years. Surprisingly, the pieces on Biome are never overly repetitive or unduly clinical, which is why Magnetize often reminds one of a less teutonic Klaus Schulze (particularly during the heady space cadet daze of Irrlicht and Cyborg) or an updated version of Zanov (circa Green Ray). Perhaps as a consequence, Biome turns out to be a superb - if not wholly original - debut disc of electronic sound captured and reconstituted from the frontiers of chaos."

The Killing Spree - 7" (RB001)Sold Out from Rimbaud Records "From Ireland, The Killing Spree have released a debut single, 'Not Your Choice/The Urge To Purge' (Rimbaud 7") that is eerily reminiscent of some of the hard guitar groups of Midwest US's post-punk past. Sort of edgy, slammy aggro stuff in the vein of Naked Raygun or Tar or something. What's interesting in hearing this, is to remember anew how much of those groups' construction-angling was later heisted by the panty boys of math-rock. Interesting to hear it pumped up again." - WIRE MAGAZINE.
